A Letter From Our Founder
Friends,
Since many of you will be looking at outsourcing for the first time, I'd like to re-introduce you to a couple of cliches: "You get what you pay for," and "If you want something done right, do it yourself." I discovered both to be true in my first experience with outsourcing, which exposed a significant gap between U.S. expectations and Philippine call centers. This experience led me to found a company to bridge that gap.
When I was first assigned to augment a telemarketing group for a wireless networking company in San Jose, CA, I knew the Philippines had many educated, English-speaking agents with sales experience. I witnessed this first-hand when I called companies like five9, a hosted auto-dialer solution, Web.com, where our website is currently hosted and even Expedia, where I book my flights.
I evaluated nine different companies, and was amazed at how inexpensive many of them were. The range in rates was from $6 to $15 per hour; the range in results was obviously more negative at the lowest end of the pay scale. I picked a company based on their historic results that charged me $9.50 per hour. In the beginning it was great, I started interviewing the agents and reviewing their resumes, which includes the agents' pictures, ages, religions and other things unheard-of in the U.S.
